Manchester United Striker Wayne Rooney tweeted the following just moments after the news of Cappello's resignation broke... 'Gutted capello has quit. Good guy and top coach. Got to be english to replace him. Harry redknapp for me.'
Paul Gascoigne, who played for England during the 1990s, gave his backing to Redknapp, but also spoke of Terry Venables if the Football Association could entice the current Tottenham Manager from his position.
QPR Midfielder Joey Barton, no stranger to Twitter and using the Social Media platform to voice his own opinions on a whole range of subjects, said... 'No captain and no manager. 4 months from a major championship. What's going on.......'
